About Us
The Santa Barbara Agriculture and Farm Education Foundation
was established to protect and preserve our community’s agricultural heritage while advancing food security and environmental stewardship. When our local farmland was threatened by development, we acted—in particular, our founder saving it from irreversible loss and transforming it into a center for regenerative agriculture and education. Today, the lands that we protect are flourishing examples of what can be achieved when communities unite to value chemical-free, closed-loop food systems, education, and the environment.
Through our projects both on the farm and in the community, Sweet Wheel Farms provides fresh, chemical-free produce to more than 1,500 residents each week, serving families from Carpinteria to Goleta. This critical work is sustained through the dedication of our volunteers and staff, whose efforts ensure that food reaches those who need it most will be sustained and our community health is changed by giving this food. By maintaining local farmland and offering quality produce grown without harmful chemicals, we strengthen community health, foster environmental responsibility, and directly address food insecurity throughout Santa Barbara County.
Our Mission:
To preserve local farmland, promote agricultural education, and provide chemical-free food that strengthens community health and food security throughout Santa Barbara County.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to bettering community health through chemical-free food and education—empowering our region to thrive through sustainability, compassion, and respect for the land that sustains us all.
