You Sprout is a program within the SBAFE Foundation that teaches our children the skills they need to grow their own food at home. It teaches children to value food and our planet, while also emphasizing the importance of knowing where their food comes from.

Our videos, fun facts, and interactive activities will teach children to propagate, graft, and grow many types of fruits and vegetables.

These skills are particularly important to know in food desert areas of Santa Barbara, such as Summerland. Food deserts are communities that have limited or no access to grocery stores or healthy food options. Therefore, knowing how to grow one’s own food can help significantly in feeding these vulnerable food communities.

You Sprout educates our next generation of farmers to ensure food security in our future communities.
